Born 1948 in Salzburg. The deprivation of the post-war years was formative in his childhood. He substituted his studies of philosophy for painting. Eigner was discovered by Hans Weigel, who brought him to Vienna. Founded the ’’Stamparia del Tintoretto’’ in Venice with professor Robert Mazzetto in 1986. In 1990 he altered his style representational painting to abstract reduction (in his New York studio). He paints ’’structural shadow pictures’’ in oil and pigment. With his new technique, oil on glass, layer lines get a three-dimensional character. ’’Layer line paintings’’. Up until 2002, he has had 115 solo exhibitions.
